The Voice For Palestine has organized a special awareness event dedicated to Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam.

Located in occupied Jerusalem, Palestine, Al-Aqsa Mosque continues to face mounting challenges and repeated violations from Israeli extremist and settler groups who frequently storm the mosque compound under heavy police protection. These incursions, which often involve provocative tours and attempts to perform Talmudic rituals within the sanctuary, have raised growing concern among Muslims worldwide over the preservation of the site’s sanctity and historical status.

Al-Aqsa Mosque holds profound spiritual significance in Islam. The sacred site is intrinsically linked to the Isra’ and Mi’raj (the Night Journey and Ascension), during which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was miraculously transported from Makkah to Jerusalem before ascending to the heavens. The mosque also served as the first qibla — the direction Muslims faced in prayer — before the qibla was divinely changed to the Kaaba in Makkah.

During the recent US-Israel war against Iran, Al-Aqsa Mosque was subjected to an unprecedented 41-day total closure to Muslim worshippers by Israeli occupation authorities

The Al-Aqsa Day event, scheduled for May 31, aims to deepen public understanding of the mosque’s religious importance, rich historical legacy, and the ongoing challenges confronting the sanctuary and the Palestinian people.

The family-centered event, which will be held at Nairobi Muslim Academy in South C, is expected to bring together members of the community for a day of education, reflection, solidarity, and humanitarian support. Activities will include informative presentations on the significance of Al-Aqsa Mosque, art exhibitions, awareness sessions, and interactive programs designed for both adults and children.

Children attending the event will enjoy a variety of fun and educational activities, while food and bake sales will also be organized throughout the day. Funds raised during the event will go toward providing medical support for Gaza, where humanitarian needs continue to grow amid ongoing conflict.

The Voice For Palestine say the event is intended not only to educate the public but also to inspire unity and collective responsibility within the Muslim community.

“This is more than just an event. It is an opportunity to raise our voices, educate our children, support Palestine, and remind the Ummah that Al-Aqsa is never forgotten,” the advocacy group said in a statement.

“It is a day of unity, a day of awareness, and a day to stand together for Palestine and Masjid Al-Aqsa as one Ummah,” the statement added.

Schools that participated in fundraising initiatives for Gaza medical support will also be recognized and awarded during the event for their contributions and solidarity efforts.

Voice for Palestine brings together various Muslim organizations and mosques to amplify the Palestinian cause. The organizations include the Jamia Mosque Committee, National Muslim Leaders Forum (NAMLEF), Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM), Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK), Masjid Al-Ameen, Parklands Mosque, Adams Mosque, Masjid Rahma (Hurlingham), Maahad Da’wah Organization, Park Road Mosque, and the Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Practitioners (KAMMP), among others.
