Through the support of Kenyans, 35 Palestinians in Gaza recently benefited from surgical procedures.

The interventions included 10 critical cases, such as phimosis, hypospadias, undescended testis, urinary procedures (URS), and bladder stones.

The operations were carried out at Patients Friends Hospital in Gaza City through the Al-Imdaad Foundation, under the sponsorship of Voice for Palestine (VFP).

So far, a total of 952 surgeries have been undertaken in Gaza through the efforts of Voice for Palestine, which over the last two years has been mobilizing humanitarian and medical support for Palestinians in Gaza, who have been subjected to unprecedented genocide under the Israeli occupation.

“We urge people to still contribute towards medical support to assist the people of Gaza,” said VFP Chairman Ahmed Sharrif.

In addition to medical assistance, other humanitarian initiatives—such as food distribution and shelter programmes for displaced persons—form part of the support extended to the people of Gaza by Kenyan Muslims under the VFP initiative.

In February, VFP launched a campaign through M-Pesa Ratiba, enabling individuals to donate at least Sh100 weekly to support medical cases in Gaza. The Safaricom service allows users to set up automatic transfers via the M-PESA app or by dialing *334# (option 9). Contributions can be made through M-Pesa Pay Bill 150770, Account: TREE4GAZA (Account Name: Jamia Mosque Committee).

Gaza is currently facing severe shortages of essential medications and medical equipment due to ongoing restrictions on aid entering the besieged territory.

In a statement, Dr. Randa Abu El-Khair Masoud, a medical adviser with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Gaza, described the growing pressure on hospitals and clinics across the enclave as shortages intensify, warning that patients’ lives are at risk.

“Every day, in our hospitals and clinics, we see the impact of restrictions on the entry of medical supplies. The needs are immense, yet aid is not reaching those who need it. Trucks carrying food and medicine are waiting just outside Gaza but are blocked from entering. MSF has not been able to bring in any supplies since January 1, 2026.”

According to Dr. Randa, the lack of medications is particularly critical for patients with chronic diseases. Treatments for diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, and asthma are in short supply, with nearly half of the essential medicines for these conditions now critically low.

The VFP advocacy group brings together a wide network of Muslim organizations and mosques to support the Palestinian cause. These organizations include the Jamia Mosque Committee, National Muslim Leaders Forum (NAMLEF), Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM), Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK), Masjid Al-Ameen, Parklands Mosque, Adams Mosque, Masjid Rahma (Hurlingham), Maahad Da’wah Organization, Park Road Mosque, and the Kenya Association of Muslim Medical Practitioners (KAMMP), among others.
