More than 200 families across various neighborhoods in Kisumu have received food supplies through a Ramadhan relief initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable households during the holy month.

The distribution exercise was carried out through a collaborative partnership between KCB Sahl Bank and the Kisumu Muslim Association (KMA). The initiative sought to ease the burden on struggling families facing rising living costs during a period marked by fasting, prayer, and increased charitable giving.

Officials from the Shariah-compliant bank noted that the food drive forms part of its broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The bank has so far invested Sh25 million in various community-based initiatives across the country.

“Our aim is to support less privileged members of society during the month of Ramadhan,” said Ahmed Hasan, an official from the bank. He added that beyond financial services, the institution remains committed to uplifting communities through sustainable social impact programmes.

KMA officials welcomed the support, terming it timely and impactful. Rashid Hussein, an official of the association, said the donations will go a long way in cushioning families against economic hardships during the fasting period.

“This support will significantly ease the pressure on many households as they observe Ramadhan,” Hussein said, adding that the association remains committed to working with like-minded partners to improve the welfare of Muslims in Kisumu.

Among the beneficiaries was 91-year-old Mwanisha Amri, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the assistance. She described the food package as a vital boost that would help sustain her throughout the holy month.

“May Allah abundantly reward those who have made this possible,” she said.
