How to Apply for a Kenyan Passport

Ensure you have the following documents: (First-Time Applicants)

• A duly filled application Form 19.

• Original and a copy of your birth certificate.

• Original and a copy of your national ID card.

• Copies of parents’ national ID cards or death certificates where applicable.

• Three recent passport-sized photographs with a white background.

• Any other supporting documents as required.

For Renewal or Replacement:

• A copy of the previous passport.

• A duly filled application Form 19.

• Original and a copy of your national ID card.

• For lost passports: a police abstract, sworn affidavit, and personal statement explaining the loss.

• For damaged passports: the damaged passport, a sworn affidavit, and a personal statement explaining the damage.

• Any other supporting documents as required.

The application process is conducted online through the eCitizen platform. To apply, visit eCitizen and create an account using your email and national ID number. Activate your account via the confirmation email, log in, and navigate to the Department of Immigration Services. Select Passport Application and fill in your details accurately, then upload scanned copies of the required documents.

The cost of obtaining Kenyan passport

A Series passport (34 pages) costs Ksh 7,550

B Series passport (50 pages) costs Ksh 9,550,

C Series passport (66 pages) costs Ksh 12,050.

Lost passport replacement costs Ksh 20,050.

Once payment is completed, schedule an appointment at the immigration office for biometric data capture. Immigration offices are located in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Garissa, Eldoret, Kisii, Kericho, Bungoma and Embu

For Haji Passports

Obtain a letter from your Haji agent

Present the letter and ID to Supkem for a recommendation letter to the Immigration office

Present the printed application form and payment receipt, original documents (ID, birth certificate, etc.), and three recent passport-sized photographs. After biometric capture, you can track your passport status through the eCitizen portal. Notifications will inform you when your passport is ready for collection.
