Pumwani mosque appeals for help for fire victims
In a passionate appeal, the deputy Imam Sheikh Ali Muhsin Shekue called on well-wishers to provide assistance to the victims, many of whom were living in temporary shelters.

The Pumwani Riyadha Mosque has sent out an appeal for assistance for the victims of an inferno which gutted homes in Kinyago Kanuku in California ward, Kamukunji leaving more than 60 families homeless.
The course of the fire which claimed the life of an eleven-year-old child is said to have caused by a gas explosion.
In a passionate appeal, the deputy Imam Sheikh Ali Muhsin Shekue called on well-wishers to provide assistance to the victims, many of whom were living in temporary shelters.
“More than 200 people many of them women and children have been affected and there are in need for urgent assistance. With the expected rains, the situation will be worse,” he said.
While the mosque responded by providing hot meals as part of its community social responsibility programme, Sheikh Shekue said material assistance such as iron sheets, mattresses, and clothes were needed to help them rebuild their homes.
"Many families are spending nights outdoors without adequate shelter, food, or clean water. This community requires urgent assistance, including shelter, food, clean water, and medical care. We call on the government and well-wishers to provide help," lamented a local resident Justus Muchiri
The inferno is among several fire incidents which have been experienced in Kamukunji constituency within this month. In the Pamela areas in Shauri Moyo, 130 people were left homeless while a fire incident in Rokongo, Majengo slums left 11 families without a place to call home.
Another fire incident gutted homes in the Old Sewage area of Eastleigh leaving 11 families without a roof over their heads.
“It is absolutely essential that we address the recurring fires that devastate the lives and homes of low-income residents in Kamukunji’s informal settlements and work toward a lasting solution,” said the MP.
