The Mombasa-based MEWA Hospital has unveiled an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facility as part of its services in the provision of advanced healthcare.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology and supported by a highly skilled medical team, the state-of-the-art advanced operating theatre is designed to provide world-class surgical care to patients
“This milestone reflects our commitment to raising the standards of healthcare for our community. Behind every piece of equipment is a team of dedicated professionals, ready to serve with compassion, excellence, and integrity.,” said a statement from the hospital.
Established as a community hospital in 1992, MEWA Hospital rose from a humble beginning as a healthcare facility offering outpatient services to a fully-fledged hospital, with an in-patient capacity of 49 beds, accident and emergency centre, maternity services, diagnostic radiology services, laboratory services, and a range of specialist consultant clinics.

MEWA Hospital is part of the projects run by the Muslim Education and Welfare Association (MEWA), a non – profit organization, formed by a group of young Muslim professionals in Mombasa who had an interest in improving the educational and welfare standards of the Muslim Community.
Other projects run by the organisation include the MEWA Drug Treatment Centre in Mtopanga, and the Mewa Vocational Training Centre located in Majengo area of Mombasa.
