Media personality Jaymoo Ule Msee embraces Islam

Former radio presenter, digital content creator, and comedian Jaymoo Ule Msee has announced his reversion to Islam. The popular media personality took the shahada (the declaration of faith) on Wednesday, December 24, at Jamia Mosque at the hands of the Da’wah Officer Sheikh Muhammad Sheikh.

He emotionally announced his newfound spiritual journey, describing the decision as a new beginning marked by healing and spiritual renewal.

In a heartfelt statement shared with his followers on social media, Jaymo who adopted the name Abdul Hakeem, said the move represents a turning point in his life, one grounded in faith, purpose, and service to the Almighty.

“Today I begin again. A healed heart, a renewed soul, and a life surrendered to Allah. From this moment forward, my steps are guided by faith, service, and purpose. Alhamdulillah,” he said.

Jaymo’s announcement has drawn widespread reactions online, with an outpouring of messages of support as he embarks on the new chapter of his spiritual journey.

“Welcome to Islam, Jaymo ule wa Msee. May Allah forgive your past, guide your steps, and grant you steadfastness on this beautiful journey," said East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Falhada Dekow Iman in her congratulatory message.

“Welcome to Islam, I saw this coming many years ago,” said Ramadhan Kuria Bin Kaguo comparative religion preacher who is behind the Straight Path Dawah YouTube channel.

“Welcome, my dear brother, to the true religion that Allah has chosen for His creation. May Allah keep you and me steadfast in Islam until death,” the former Imam of Masjid Rahma, Hurlingham Sheikh Mohamud Markoni said.

“May Allah ease your path in the religion of Islam, inshallah,” said Everlyne Chepkoech on Facebook.

In his message of support, Sante Godwin Boru said, “Masha Allah my brother, Welcome to Islam. I took this path 15 years ago, the best decision ever of my life. You are lucky, Allah chose you. Never look back.”

Born Wilson Muirania Gathoni Jaymo, he chose the moniker Jaymo Ule Msee for comedy and he is now considered among the big names today in the industry.

Over the years, he has built his name through comedy, storytelling and digital corporate communications, fashioning himself as a sharp social commentator.

Earlier this month, he recently announced his entry into politics, expressing his intentions to vie for the Nairobi Senator seat.
