Kadhis among 117 Judicial Officers Promoted by JSC
The promotions were made based on an individual's performance and are aimed at strengthening the country's judicial capacity and improving efficiency in service delivery.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has promoted 117 Judicial Officers to various higher rankings in the judiciary.
In a statement released last week, the Secretary of Judicial Service Commission (JSC),Winfridah Mokaya, said that the promotions were made after the service conducted interviews of the candidates between August 4 and 13 and were later ratified by the commission during a meeting held on September 11 and 15. The promotions took effect immediately after the ratification was done.
"The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved the promotion of 117 Judicial Officers following interviews conducted between 4th and 13th August 2025. The promotions, ratified during Commission meetings held on 11th and 15th September 2025, took effect immediately," the statement read in part.
In the Kadhi courts, 15 officers were elevated to Senior Principal Kadhis while 20 were promoted to Principal Kadhis. In addition, the JSC promoted nine judicial officers to Chief Magistrates, 67 to Senior Principal Magistrates, and six to Principal Magistrates.
Among those promoted to the position of Senior Principal Kadhi include Sheikh Mwaito Salim Juma, Sheikh Otundo Rashid Kokonya, Sheikh Ali Swaleh Mohamed, Sheikh Isaack Hassan Mohamednoor, and Sheikh Mohamed Abdiaziz Maalim and Abduljabbar.
Also promoted to Senior Principal Kadhis are Sheikh Shaaban Issa Muhammed, Sheikh Salim Abdullah Mwidadi, Sheikh Malampu Abdilatif Silau, Sheikh Ramadhani Khamis, and Sheikh Ibrahim Adan Tullu. The list further includes Sheikh Salat Muktar Billow, Sheikh Wako Ali Dida, Sheikh Galgalo Adan, and Sheikh Vumbi Salim Habib.
Those elevated from Senior Resident Kadhis to Principal Kadhis are Sheikh Ahmed Isaack Maalim, Sheikh Opacha Jamal Imodoi, Sheikh Hassan Mohamed Hussein, Sheikh Wendo Shaban Wendo, Sheikh Mwambele Mohamed Suleiman, and Sheikh Gavava Awadh Mohamed.
Others promoted to Principal Kadhi include Sheikh Randu Mohamed Garama, Muriuki Nicholas Muriithi, Sheikh Swaleh Mahdi Omar Khamis, Sheikh Dogo Sheikh Dabaso, Sheikh Muhiyidin Sambul Mohamed, Daffa Hassan Omar, and Shunu Mustafa Guyo.
Also making the list are Sheikh Wehliye Mohammed Sheikh, Sheikh Idris Nyamagosa Nyaboga, Sheikh Mohamed Mahamud Ibrahim, Sheikh Fahad Ismael Mohamed, Sheikh Muhumed Kule Mohamed, Sheikh Karanja Thulkif Waweru, and Sheikh Dadacha Ali Ibrahim.
Mokaya pointed out that, the promotions were made based on an individual's performance and are aimed at strengthening the country's judicial capacity and improving efficiency and service delivery.
She further noted that the promotions reflect the commitment of the commission to promote high-performing officers and foster career progression across the Judiciary. "These advancements reflect not only individual excellence and dedication, but also the commission's unwavering commitment to strengthening the rule of law, improving access to justice and service, with integrity and excellence while being accountable to the people of Kenya," the statement read.
"This milestone underscores the Commission's commitment to strengthening judicial capacity by expanding both territorial and pecuniary jurisdiction of officers to manage matters of greater value and complexity," JSC stated.
