Assistant Director, Peace Building and Conflict Management

The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration is hiring Assistant Director, Peace Building and Conflict Management.

Seven vacancies available, and applicants must have at least 10 years of experience.

Job Scale
CSG 7

Requirements;
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
(i) cumulative service period of ten (10) years, three (3) of which should be in the grade of Principal, Peace Building and Conflict Management CSG 8 or in a comparable and relevant position in the public service;
(ii) a Bachelors degree in any of the disciplines: Peace and Conflict Management, Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Social Work, Law, Diplomacy and International Relations Resolution and Humanitarian Assistance Studies, Natural Resource Management, Project Management, Strategic Studies, Psychology, Criminology, Police and Military Science or Gender and Development from a university recognized in Kenya; and
(iii) demonstrated high degree of professional competence and administrative capability required for the effective planning, direction, control and coordination of the Peace Building and Conflict Management Function.

Duties and Responsibilities;

(i) developing strategies; programs, standards and guidelines for provision of peace building and small arms control services;
(ii) undertaking research; Identifying potential sources of funding in support of peace building and small arms control programs;
(iii) establishing Conflict early Warning and Early Response System
(iv) managing information Resource Centers on Peace building and small arms control;
(v) developing information, education and communication materials on peace and conflict management;
(vi) developing mechanisms for community participation and empowerment in peace building and small arms control;
(vii) support initiatives that promote conflict prevention, management, resolution, national healing and reconciliation;
(viii) maintaining and updating database on stockpile management for recovered small arms in liaison with other stakeholders;
(ix) monitoring and evaluating peace building and small arms control activities, programmes and projects;
(x) identifying persons/institutions for national peace awards in liaison with other stakeholders;
(xi) organizing commemoration of National and International peace events;
(xii) preparing and compiling peace and conflict management reports; and
(xiii) coaching and mentoring of staff.
