US$1.4 million raised for family of hero guard Amin Abdullah
The fundraising campaign was hosted on LaunchGood, the world’s leading Muslim fundraising platform

More than US$1 million has been raised for the family of Amin Abdullah, the security guard who was killed while protecting worshippers during the deadly terror attack on San Diego’s largest mosque and Islamic school.
The fundraising campaign, hosted on LaunchGood, the world’s leading Muslim fundraising platform, has already raised US$1.4 million toward its US$2 million goal, reflecting an outpouring of support from communities around the world.
Police say Amin’s actions helped prevent an even greater massacre as children and staff were evacuated to safety. Remembered for his warmth and courage, the father and community guardian is now being honored by thousands supporting the family he left behind.
Reports on the incident of the armed attack on the Islamic Center in the American city of San Diego have revealed a heroic story whose hero was the security guard, who chose to be the last human shield against bullets, sacrificing his life to save dozens of students and worshippers inside the site.
Eyewitnesses and security reports said that Amin did not hesitate to clash with the attackers to disrupt their access to prayer halls and classrooms adjacent to the center.
When two armed attackers indiscriminately opened fire on the complex, Amin bravely confronted them at the entrance. His actions directly disrupted their ability to access deeper areas of the facility, keeping the adjacent prayer halls and the on-site school's classrooms safe until the children could be evacuated.
His presence at the first point of confrontation enabled worshippers and students to take shelter, significantly reducing the size of the expected human disaster, to make him one of the three victims of the incident.
His last post on his personal Facebook page sparked a wide wave of mindfulness, as he seemed to bid farewell to the world with a profound philosophical formulation of the meaning of success, Amin wrote before his departure: "For many people, success means financial stability and a good reputation.. As for me, it's Allah, then Wallahi (by Allah), success is to return to Allah our Creator with the same pure spirit he lent me the day I was born"
A father of eight, a convert to Islam, he prayed for a noble end and died protecting the mosque, worshippers and children.
He remains a true hero who made the ultimate sacrifice for others.
May Allah grant him the highest ranks among His righteous servants and martyrs
