The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) has called on the Muslim community and Kenyans, to actively participate in the ongoing Voters' Registration exercise.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), through a Gazette Notice dated 27th March 2026, has announced the commencement of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise from 30th March 2026 to 28th April 2026 across the country.

The registration exercise is a key step in preparing for the 2027 General Elections. The exercise will be conducted at County Assembly Wards on a rotational basis, Constituency Offices, Huduma Centres, Institutions of Higher Learning, and at the IEBC Customer Experience Centre in Nairobi.

SUPKEM, in a statement posted on its social media platform highlighted the importance of this process, describing it as essential in ensuring that every eligible citizen's voice is heard in leadership decisions.

The Muslim umbrella body said participation in voter registration is a civic responsibility and an important pillar in strengthening governance and national unity.

The Council reminded citizens that the exercise is open to all eligible Kenyan citizens who have attained the age of 18 years and possess valid identification documents, those who have changed their residence, or those switching polling stations. SUPKEM also encouraged first-time voters, especially the youth, to register and actively contribute to shaping Kenya’s future. “This is your chance to exercise your right and duty by ensuring your name is correctly listed in the voters' register. This process lays the foundation for free, fair, and credible elections,” SUPKEM in a statement said.

The council urged political leaders, civil societies and social media influencers to take up the role in actively mobilising the populace across various levels, by using their social status so that the commission can achieve its goal of 6.3 million ahead of 2027 general elections.
