SUPKEM, Saudi Arabia sign 2026 Hajj agreement

According to the agreement, for 4,500 Kenyan pilgrims will participate in the 2026 Hajj season (1447 in the Islamic calendar).

The Kenya Hajj Mission has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to facilitate the performance of hajj by Kenyan pilgrims.

According to the agreement, for 4,500 Kenyan pilgrims will participate in the 2026 Hajj season (1447 in the Islamic calendar).

The signing ceremony featured the National Chairman of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) Hassan Ole Naado representing Kenya Hajj Mission and Dr. Abdulfattah Suliman Almashat, the Deputy Minister for Hajj and Umrah Affairs.

At the signing ceremony, Ole Naado was accompanied by the SUPKEM secretary general Abdullahi Salat and Abarufa Jillo Falana, the Deputy Consul General of Kenya in Jeddah.

“This agreement signifies our commitment to enhancing the Hajj experience for our pilgrims and reinforces the strong ties between Kenya and Saudi Arabia in matters of faith. The opportunity for thousands of Kenyans to perform Hajj provides a profound chance for spiritual rejuvenation, unity, and deepening faith,” he said.

The MoU provides a clear framework for coordination between SUPKEM and Saudi Hajj authorities on logistical, and administrative arrangements for Kenyan pilgrims.

“As the Kenya Hajj Mission prepares for this momentous occasion, we will ensure that all logistical arrangements are in place to support pilgrims throughout their journey, from pre-departure preparations to their stay in Saudi Arabia. SUPKEM is committed to ensuring our pilgrims receive value for their money and a memorable, rewarding experience,” he added

Hajj is the last of the five pillars of Islam, and is significant journey for Muslims worldwide, serving as a time for reflection, prayer, and building community brotherhood.

The SUPKEM chairman expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs and the Saudi authorities for facilitating the process which he said serves as as a reminder of the collective spirit of the brotherhood of Muslims.
