Nusuk Umrah, your journey of a lifetime now in a click

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah launched a service that allows pilgrims from all over the world to apply directly for Umrah-related services online, without the hassle of an intermediary.

According to the ministry, Nusuk Umrah is designed to make the pilgrimage journey easier and more accessible for Muslims around the world. Through the platform, pilgrims can apply for visas, book flights, accommodation, and other services, all from a single platform.

Umrah has always held deep spiritual importance for Muslims around the world. But planning the journey has often been a long and complicated process. The initiative not only enhances and simplifies the Umrah process but also opens the door for millions of Muslims around the world to book their pilgrimage journeys with ease.

Using the platform, pilgrims can customize their Umrah trip by choosing from either integrated packages or individual services such as visas, guided local tours, accommodation, transportation, and other support services. The idea is to give people flexibility while improving service quality and enriching their overall experience. The app can be accessed from the official website, umrah.nusuk.sa as well as on Android, iOS and Huawei platforms.

Importantly, the service, which has been available since last month does not aim to replace existing accredited agents; rather, it offers pilgrims more choice in how they plan their trip.

The platform offers a multilingual interface that supports seven languages, Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese. Additional languages will be added on the platform in the future.

Nusuk Umrah is fully integrated with other relevant Saudi government systems, from visa application to issuance, ensuring pilgrims have a smooth experience throughout. With multiple payment options, the digital platform eliminates the need to coordinate with multiple service providers to arrange an Umrah trip.

According to the Nusuk website, pilgrims must secure an Umrah permit before arriving at the Grand Mosque in Makkah. The platform advises booking during less crowded periods to help pilgrims complete Umrah with ease and reverence.

Umrah is a non-mandatory journey to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year. Unlike Hajj, which takes place only during specific days in the Islamic calendar, Umrah is shorter and less complex, yet holds immense spiritual value for Muslims across the world.

Saudi Arabia is increasingly resorting to digital innovations to shape the Umrah and Haj journey. The “Rushd” app launched in July this year, among other features offers prayer tools, a multilingual 3D virtual-reality guide for Hajj and Umrah awareness. Among other features, it provides an Islamic e-library and other services designed to assist and educate pilgrims worldwide.

Beyond digital innovations, Saudi Arabia has improved logistics around mosque access. Structured gates, bridges, and crowd management systems are easing pilgrim movement, while airport processes now handle arrivals more efficiently, reducing waiting times and congestion.

According to data, more than 15 million pilgrims performed Umrah in the first quarter of 2025. Of these, 6.5 million arrived from abroad, while 8.7 million were domestic pilgrims. In the same year, the country also hosted over 1.6 million pilgrims from 180 countries for the annual Hajj.

As millions continue to arrive in Makkah and Madinah, Saudi Arabia is building an Umrah experience where spiritual enrichment, efficiency, and global unity converge seamlessly.
