The chairman of Voice for Palestine, Ahmed Sharrif, has praised the crucial role women play in advancing community-oriented projects, saying their resolve and determination have helped deliver initiatives with lasting social impact.

Sharrif noted that in many community efforts, women are often at the forefront, driving projects that provide essential support for the Muslim community. He made the remarks during an event organized by Mombasa-based women’s organization Yadul Ulya, which handed over Sh10 million to Voice for Palestine to support medical relief for people in Gaza.

“Our sisters and mothers here in Mombasa, and across the country, have consistently taken the lead in supporting community projects,” he said. “Their determination and sacrifices have made a significant difference in accomplishing initiatives that benefit society.”

He commended Yadul Ulya for its extraordinary fundraising effort, saying the funds—raised through widespread community mobilization—will enable the provision of critical medical care in Gaza. “More than 400 surgical operations are planned through the funds raised for the medical campaign,” he said, while giving assurance that all donations would reach affected families.

Ahmed described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as still dire, with most residents dependent on external aid. He cited soaring injury numbers and noted that more than 30,000 children have been left orphaned. He urged Kenyans to continue supporting relief efforts through the Voice for Palestine’s Mpesa Paybill number 150770, Account: Gaza.

Speaking at the event, Zamzam Nassir the organising secretary of Yadul Ulya said the scale of suffering in Gaza motivated the organization’s aggressive fundraising drive. “As mothers, we are deeply pained by what innocent women and children are enduring,” she said.

Meanwhile, Voice for Palestine has been nominated among the recipients of the 100 Most Influential Muslims in Kenya Awards. The advocacy group will be recognized through a special segment dedicated to celebrating outstanding Muslim organizations that have created positive social impact across the country.

“We are delighted that your organization, Voices For Palestine, has been selected for recognition under the 20 Muslim Social Impact Awards in Kenya, in appreciation of your exceptional contribution to community development, empowerment, and service. This recognition reflects your commitment to values of compassion, integrity, and leadership that continue to inspire meaningful change within the Muslim community and the nation at large,” said a statement from Suleiman Ndoro the CEO of The Muslim Media, the organisers of the annual event.
