Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sharrif Nassir will be among prominent leaders to attend the tree planting event in Mombasa tomorrow, Saturday, November 8, to raise funds for the people of Gaza.

The event will be broadcast live on Al Haajar TV through its YouTube channel.

The Secretary General of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) Sheikh Muhammad Dor urged Kenyans to turn out in mass numbers to support the people of Palestine. “On Saturday, we call upon all, Muslims and non-Muslims to gather in solidarity with the people of Gaza and support their cause. This is a humanitarian cause and world over people, regardless of race and faith have come out to express their solidarity with the people of Gaza," he said.

“This will be among the major events held in the country to raise funds for the people of Gaza. We call upon people to come out in large numbers and show their solidarity with the people of Gaza,” said the Voice for Palestine chairman Ahmed Sharrif.

“This is not only an event to raise funds but also a march for justice and rejection of oppression. Together we walk for justice, unity, and peace,” he added.

A similar exercise was held in September at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, where thousands of people came out to participate in the event. More than Sh17 million was raised in the Gaza event.
