KDF provides free medical camp for Mandera residents

As part of its community outreach programmes, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops based at Omar Jillow trading center in Mandera County conducted a free medical camp for area residents.

The programme involved the provision of medical attention to the local community as well as referral services for those with complex cases. Hundreds of residents benefited from a wide array of medical services, including medical check-ups, consultations and diagnostic assessments.

The exercise aimed at bridging gaps between security agencies and the local population, fostering trust and cooperation in line with KDF’s broader Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) strategy.

Local residents appreciated the efforts of the Kenya Defence Forces, which are part of the ongoing programmes of the military in promoting peace and development in the area and the region at large.

In a similar exercise last month, KDF personnel conducted a blood donation exercise for Mandera County Referral Hospital.

The donated blood significantly boosted the hospital’s blood bank, enhancing its capacity to handle medical emergencies, maternal cases, and trauma-related incidents—ultimately saving lives.

This initiative reflects KDF’s continued commitment to adopting a people-centric approach to the security of the country and saving lives.
