Masjid Al Ameen has issued an appreciation message to Muslims for their overwhelming support towards the Ramadhan Brick Challenge fundraising initiative.

The programme, conducted during the holy month of Ramadhan, surpassed its target by more than 150 percent. Initially aiming to raise 100,000 bricks valued at Sh5 million, the campaign—largely driven through social media—successfully raised Sh7,792,337. Each brick was priced at Sh50.

Speaking during a cheque presentation ceremony, the mosque’s CEO, Ali Khalid, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all contributors, noting that the achievement reflected unity and commitment to community development.

“This incredible milestone is a reflection of your generosity, unity, and sincerity. To all our donors and supporters, Jazakumullahu Khayran for giving in this blessed month. May Allah accept your contributions, multiply your rewards, and make it a continuous Sadaqah Jariyah for you. You made this possible — and we are deeply grateful,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, the Imam of Parklands Mosque, Sheikh Abdulrahman Ishaq, commended the community’s efforts but emphasized the need for continued support to complete the 14-storey complex, which is projected to cost over Sh400 million.

“It might appear to be a colossal amount, but by coming together in unity, it can be achieved,” he said.

The proposed waqf (endowment) complex—currently under construction and now on the fifth floor—is expected to significantly expand the mosque’s education and social welfare programmes.

Masjid Al Ameen currently runs several community initiatives, including free janaza services, the Kangudo Children’s Home orphanage, a three-month boarding programme for reverts at the Darul Irshad education centre in Nguluni, Machakos County, as well as youth and marital counselling services. The mosque also operates a Home-Based Care (HBC) programme, which provides medical equipment such as oxygen cylinders, hospital beds, and wheelchairs, alongside distributing clothes and shoes to vulnerable members of society.
