Collect your IDs, Birth Certificates, and Smart Driving Licences, Kenyans told
Currently, at least 152,398 national IDs, 85,550 smart driving licences, and 28,550 birth certificates are yet to be picked up.

Kenyans have been urged to collect their unclaimed identification documents—including national IDs, smart driving licences, and birth certificates—from various Huduma Service Centres across the country.
The appeal comes amid a growing backlog of thousands of essential personal documents that remain uncollected in government offices. Currently, at least 152,398 national IDs, 85,550 smart driving licences, and 28,550 birth certificates are yet to be picked up.
In a statement, Huduma Kenya called on applicants to check the status of their documents and visit their nearest Huduma Centre for collection. “Is your identification card, driving licence, or birth certificate in this pile? Do not let it gather dust. Come for your documents,” the agency said.
Citizens experiencing challenges have also been encouraged to reach out through official communication channels, including the toll-free number 1919.
To further improve service delivery and enhance access to essential services, the government has expanded ID registration and collection services to more Huduma Centres nationwide. These centres now provide easier access for first-time applicants to both apply for and collect their documents ensuring that every eligible Kenyan obtains a national ID conveniently and efficiently.
The expanded network of Huduma Centres provides greater convenience for Kenyans seeking identification services, while bringing vital services closer to citizens who previously had to travel long distances to access registration offices.
The stations include Huduma Centres in Baringo, Bomet, Busia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Embu, Eldoret, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kakamega, Kericho, Kiambu, Kibra, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitale, Kitui and Kwale.
Others are stations in Siaya, Taita Taveta, Tana River, Vihiga, West Pokot, Lamu, Machakos, Makadara, Makueni, Meru, Migori, Mombasa, Murang'a, Nakuru, Nandi, Narok, Nyamira, Nyeri and Samburu.
Previously, first-time applicants were required to visit the national registration bureau offices, usually located within county commissioner's offices.
Huduma Kenya, which operates under the Ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management, has played a pivotal role in enhancing government efficiency and reducing turnaround times for essential services—an achievement that has earned the agency recognition for its innovation in public service delivery.
