Excitement is building among Muslim residents in Nyeri ahead of a highly anticipated visit by Nairobi-based scholar Sheikh Jamaludin Osman, who is set to headline the Central Kenya Da’wah Tour.
The Sheikh who is the Imam of Jamia Mosque, is scheduled to be in Nyeri as part of a regional outreach covering several towns in the Mt. Kenya region. His visit, scheduled between May 7th and 10th, 2026, has sparked widespread interest, particularly among the local Muslim community.

In Nyeri town, preparations are already underway at Masjid Qubaa in Majengo, where the main session will be hosted. Local scholars, led by Sheikh Adam Khamis, have taken the lead in organizing the event, positioning the mosque as the central venue for the Sheikh’s engagements.
During recent Jumu’ah sermons, Imams across Nyeri made coordinated announcements encouraging faithfuls to attend the sessions. The messaging appears to have had a strong impact, with many residents expressing their intention to attend the event.
The Nyeri tour will commence with a special lecture for women on Thursday, May 7, at Qubaa Mosque at 10:00 a.m. This will be followed by an evening lecture at Dedan Kimathi University after Maghrib prayers. On the following day, Sheikh Jamaludin will deliver the Friday (Jumu’ah) sermon at Qubaa Mosque.
Community members describe the visit as rare and significant, noting that scholars of Sheikh Jamaludin Osman’s stature do not frequently tour the region. For many, this presents an opportunity to gain direct insight from a prominent voice in Islamic scholarship without traveling to Nairobi.
The anticipation is not limited to Nyeri alone. The broader tour, which also includes visits in Meru, Embu, and Sagana, is expected to draw large crowds among the faithful across Central Kenya.
As the countdown continues, Majengo’s Masjid Qubaa is expected to become the focal point of spiritual engagement in Nyeri, with residents eagerly awaiting the Sheikh’s arrival and the spiritual guidance he will bring.
