Al-Khair supports drought victims in Mandera and Marsabit
The two counties are among the areas most severely affected by the drought, which has pushed millions of people to the brink of starvation.

To help mitigate malnutrition and hunger caused by the ongoing drought in Northern Kenya, Al-Khair Foundation Kenya distributed more than 1,000 food aid packs to vulnerable households in Marsabit and Mandera counties.
The two counties are among the areas most severely affected by the drought, which has pushed millions of people to the brink of starvation.
In Marsabit County, the assistance reached 450 households across three villages in Korr Sub-County. Meanwhile, in Mandera County, 650 households in nine locations within Mandera East Constituency benefited from the intervention.
The food aid comprised fortified blended Nutridense food, specially formulated to address malnutrition and acute hunger. The initiative targeted the most vulnerable families severely affected by the prolonged drought, aiming to cushion them against its harsh impacts and meet their immediate nutritional needs.
“Our animals are slowly dying, and the land no longer supports us. We walk long distances in search of water and food. This food donation does not end the drought, but it will make a difference in our lives,” said a Marsabit resident who benefited from the programme.
As the crisis continues to worsen, leaving more people in urgent need of assistance, Al-Khair Foundation plans to scale up its response by providing additional emergency food packages to families in the hardest-hit areas.
