The “3,000 Bag Cement Challenge” launched to support the construction of the Al Ameen Waqf Project has exceeded its fundraising target by 275 bags of cement, marking another major milestone for the ambitious development initiative.

The campaign had initially aimed to raise Sh2.4 million — equivalent to 3,000 bags of cement — but ultimately surpassed the target by collecting Sh2,619,767, translating to 3,275 bags of cement.

The fundraiser was launched on the first day of Dhul Hijjah and conducted throughout the ten blessed days of the sacred month, offering Muslims a unique opportunity to contribute towards a noble cause while earning immense spiritual rewards.

Al Ameen Mosque Chief Executive Officer Ali Khalid expressed gratitude to all contributors who participated in the initiative.

“We appreciate all those who participated in this challenge. The overwhelming support demonstrated by the community reflects a deep commitment to uplifting and supporting noble causes. As deeds are rewarded immensely during the sacred ten days, may Allah increase your reward for your unwavering support towards the construction,” he said.

This is the second major fundraising success recorded by the project this year. During the holy month of Ramadhan, another campaign targeting Sh5 million — equivalent to 100,000 bricks — also exceeded expectations by raising more than Sh7.7 million, enough to purchase approximately 154,000 bricks.

Construction of the Sh450 million project was launched a year ago and has since made significant progress, with works currently reaching the seventh floor.

The project seeks to expand the mosque while establishing a sustainable waqf facility that will generate long-term income to support the institution’s operations and community programmes. The initiative is expected to help finance educational facilities, an orphanage, da’wah programmes, and various social welfare activities spearheaded by the mosque.

Once completed, the proposed complex located near Juja Road estate in Nairobi, will feature additional classrooms for Al Ameen Academy — the mosque’s flagship educational institution — as well as an auditorium, sports centre, media centre, counselling facilities, and other modern amenities designed to benefit the wider community.

To support the noble project, send your contributions through Mpesa Paybill Number: 797559, Account Name: Mosque.
