4th Muslim Education Day set for Bungoma Sat 28
The event is the largest annual Muslim education convention in the country

The Muslim Education Secretariat for Western Province (MESWEP) is set to host its 4th Annual Education Day to celebrate academic excellence and achievements by Muslim-sponsored schools across the region.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Bungoma Muslim Centre (BMC), under the theme: “Empowering Muslim Schools for Academic Excellence and Community Transformation.”
National Assembly Speaker Dr. Moses Masika Wetang’ula is expected to attend as the chief guest.
Billed as the largest annual Muslim education convention in the country, the event will bring together representatives from 50 Muslim-sponsored schools, over 1,500 students, and more than 200 teachers. It will also attract school managers, religious leaders, parents, government education officials, development partners, and other key stakeholders in the education sector.
The programme will feature a range of activities, including academic exhibitions, mentorship sessions, teacher recognition awards, student motivation talks, and stakeholder dialogues aimed at strengthening collaboration, accountability, and shared ownership of educational outcomes.
Organisers say the event seeks to underscore the critical role of education in community transformation, youth empowerment, and the nurturing of moral leadership.
It will also serve as a platform to celebrate academic achievement, inspire learners, recognise outstanding teachers, and promote Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and Arabic studies as essential components of holistic education.
MESWEP, an affiliate of the Muslim Education Council, works with Muslim education institutions at all levels—from pre-primary and primary to secondary and post-secondary institutions, including madrassas—across the Western region.
